College Students Stay Close With Their Parents

The Wisconsin State Journal reports:
UW-Whitewater junior Dominique Leuzzi lives two hours from her parent's suburban Chicago home, but during a typical day on campus, they are never really far away.

The 21-year-old calls her mother and father on her cell phone before she heads off to morning classes.

She calls them again a few hours later.

She calls them around lunchtime.

Her parents check in when they get home from work.

And she calls them one last time before bed, to say goodnight.

Dominique's mother, Michele Leuzzi, is quite aware of the frequent phone calls - on average, about five a day.
Would this be going on if cell phones and cheaper call rates didn't exist? We doubt it.
