Chicago Area Mayor Proposes Ban On Tobacco Sales

CBS TV Chicago reports:
(AP) ELK GROVE VILLAGE Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson has proposed banning all tobacco sales.

The village already has been considering a smoking ban in public places like those already adopted in Chicago and other suburbs.

But at this week's village board meeting, Johnson said Elk Grove Village should consider banning the sale of all forms of tobacco, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes and chewing tobacco.
Mayor Johnson believes whatever a majority wants makes right.Tobacco is a legal product.Maybe someone should think of suing Mayor Johnson for restraining trade in interstate commerce. They don't grow tobacco in Elk Grove Village,Illinois. The pro-choice tobacco people need to start looking at the modern day interpretation of the "commerce clause".Anyway, how many municipalities are willing to give up tobacco revenue?
