Mayor Daley Wants Paul Konerko To Give Up Some Money

John Kass reports on the musings of Mayor Daley:
The other day, the mayor was pleased the Sox signed slugger Paul Konerko to a contract, though it cost them $60 million.

"Let's put everything in perspective," Daley said last week. "It's $60 million over five years. It's amazing, isn't it? Where are our priorities?

"I wonder what is their commitment to ... giving back to the rest of the community? We expect the business community to be socially conscious. Why can't we have athletes, sports people, be socially conscious?"
"Socially conscious" in Chicago means shaken down for a campaign contribution to the Democratic party.Since,Konerko works in an honest profession unlike Mayor Daley this is a hard concept for the Mayor to grasp. When is Mayor Daley going to "give back" to the community some of that large tax revenue he's been taking? Another classic by John Kass.
