City of Chicago Attacks Property Rights

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
The City Council took aim Tuesday at two neighborhood nuisances -- speeders on residential streets and dilapidated buildings -- even though both crackdowns raised questions about due process.

Mayor Daley's so-called "slum nuisance ordinance" triggered the most serious concerns -- primarily because it would empower City Hall to use administrative hearings to seize someone's property.
