Chicago Alleges Medical Tests Of Employees Falsified

CBS TV Chicago reports:
The investigation of U.S. Occupational Health began last month, after a letter from a medical group on the city's Northwest Side charged that a stamp with Dr. Sarah Alderman's name was being used to certify test results she never saw.

The city says its preliminary investigation has found Dr. Barry Fischer, the firm's president, rubber stamped the tests with a signature of a pulmonolgist, who didn't have a contract with his company, and pocketed the money he should have paid to other physicians.

"This company has done harm to the city. if they're going to cheat the city we're going to go after them -- and we're going to seek triple damages -- and we'll use full power of corporation council to seek all legal remedies," said Ron Huberman, the mayor’s chief of staff.

He's talking both civil and criminal cases. The city referred the case to the U.S. attorney's office.
