Fitzgerald 'too clean' for GOP criticism to stick

Lynne Sweet reminds those who want to smear Fitzgerald that it probably will not work:
What separates Fitzgerald from Starr and Earle is that Fitzgerald is not perceived as a partisan. He is overseeing the corruption trial of former Gov. George Ryan, a Republican; the prosecutions of scandals flowing from Democrat Mayor Daley's City Hall, and probes that are snaking their way toward Democrat Gov. Blagojevich's administration.

Fitzgerald even declines to vote in Illinois primaries, where a person has to declare a party in order to get a ballot.

Something to remember.
