Amish Oppose Zoning

The Amish are fighting big brother:
THE Amish don't normally get involved in politics - but in this case they say they had no other choice.

The intensely private US sect, whose religion dictates that they keep their distance from outsiders and don't use modern conveniences, are campaigning to eliminate a town's planning laws in a ballot on 8 November.

They say restrictions on the size of home-based businesses are preventing them from opening furniture-making enterprises as they shift from their traditional practice of small-scale agriculture.
Whatever happening to freedom to pursue a profession?
