By any standard of human decency, condemning many already poor and now bereft people to subpar wages - thus perpetuating their poverty - is unacceptable. It is also bad for the economy. Without the law, called the Davis-Bacon Act, contractors will be able to pay less, but they'll also get less, as lower wages invariably mean lower productivity.The Times doesn't understand that NYC with all its' union rules and regulations has made life miserable for the non-rich.We weren't aware of poor people getting union jobs in NYC.We thought you had to know someone connected.Best of luck to the Times if they think people want to pay $49.50 to read this sort of piece on the internet.

A Shameful Proclamation
The New York Times has an editorial condemning George Bush for suspending the infamous,racist,Davis-Bacon Act.Here's the Times:
