The Chicago Tribune reports how the rich,Chicago suburb of Glenview just doesn't like Muslims:
A plan by a Muslim group to build a house of worship in Glenview has sparked opposition from hundreds of residents in a nearby subdivision, echoing conflicts on religious and other grounds when similar projects have been proposed in other suburban communities.
More than 500 residents have signed a petition against the proposal, which is under review by the Plan Commission.
If it were a church we'd bet there wouldn't be much objection.The Trib. also reports:
Residents say they're also worried that if the property were used for religious purposes it would not be taxed, and that lack of revenue could hurt village services. Nearly $91,000 in taxes was paid last year on the property, according to the Cook County treasurer's office.
