"Debbie Does Dallas" the Musical

No I didn't make this up.A classic porn flick comes to the stage and becomes high culture.The Star-Tribune reports:

The stage musical, which has its Twin Cities premiere tonight in Fifty Foot Penguin's production at the Minneapolis Theatre Garage, shares only two things with the film -- the title and the basic story. Yes, you read that correctly. They took a porno film, stripped out the nudity and sex and kept the plot. On its face, that makes about as much sense as a straight-drama version of "Cats."

But it worked. A smash hit at the 2001 New York Fringe, "Debbie" enjoyed a four-month run off-Broadway before being made available to the rest of the world.

Porn returns to the theatre.
