Connecticut wants high gas prices

The state of Connecticut has a vested interest in high gas prices. The Hartford Courant reports:
As gasoline climbs past $3 per gallon, consumers are complaining about the big profits of big oil. But someone else is in line for a multimillion-dollar windfall: the state of Connecticut.

While state officials gathered in various forums Friday to discuss rising gas and oil prices, an industry official estimated the state could reap an extra $80 million to $100 million this year from a combination of higher prices and higher taxes.
Your misery is their pay raise.
