California Threatens Wal-Mart over Chemical Sales

You'd think the state of California would have better things to do than bother Wal-Mart.The Sacramento Bee reports:
The state Department of Pesticide Regulation is threatening to audit Wal-Mart's California stores, alleging the retailer has illegally sold home and yard chemicals not approved for use in the state.

The department also alleges that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has failed to pay state fees required from its sales of chemical weed and insect killers.

The retailer, which has 153 stores in California, has said the department is pursuing the wrong target. Wal-Mart said its suppliers, not the company, are responsible for following state law regarding chemical registrations and fees.
That state of California, with financial books shiftier than 3 dollar bill, wants to audit Wal-Mart.You've got to love the irony.
