The pressure on Robert Novak

As we know by now Robert Novak has been under a lot of pressure.A month ago he wrote a strange column,at least for Novak. He went way out of his way to praise Mayor Daley:
He has surpassed his father in winning support from blacks, businessmen and even Republicans in rebuilding his city. The Cook County Democratic machine is a shadow of its former self, and the current mayor has not followed his father's footsteps as a state and national power broker. But Democrats nationwide might well consider the occupant of Chicago's City Hall as a model.
Novak and Daley both are being persued by Patrick Fitzgerald. Was this a puff piece to make things more difficult for Fitzgerald on his Chicago investigations? Would weakening Fitzgerald indirectly help Novak if Daley were to get indicted? You decide. Most honest Democrats don't want their town to be run like Chicago. The Novak quote is one of the dumbest or dishonest things Novak has ever wrote.Townhall
