Online programs open new window on classroom

Who says you have to wait until parent-teacher conference night to find out about how your kid is doing in school? The Indianapolis Star has this interesting report:
Lisa Weartz keeps a close eye on her children's school work and is about to take her parental monitoring to a new level.

Using her Internet connection, the mother of three will for the first time this year be able to log on to her home computer to find out how her children did in class even before they get home from school.

A Web site set up by Center Grove Schools in White River Township will allow Weartz to review homework assignments, read teacher remarks, get test scores and take a peek at attendance records, all in pretty much what techies like to call "real time."
Eventually, the computer will begin to challenge the existing public school structure in education.
