Illinois patent standing falls

Illinois used to be a leader in getting patents.No longer.Scientific talent has moved to other places look where Micron Technology is located:

The Boise, Idaho-based semiconductor-maker was the fifth-largest recipient of U.S. patents last year. The company's rise has turned Idaho from an innovation backwater into the nation's top-ranked state for patent grants as a percentage of employment.
