According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute, public employees make on average $49,275 a year. A sub-princely sum, that, but better than the $34,461 that is the average annual income of private-sector workers.Those numbers don't include the giant pension many government workers get at retirement.Also,many aren't paying FICA taxes,making their take home pay much greater than private sector workers.Meyerson's right about one thing,this is going to be an issue that's not going away.Washington Post

Public Workers Under Fire
Comrade Harold Meyerson, a vice-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America, uses his Washington Post column to defend public workers.But he's good enough to bring up this fact:
