Chicago's City Council Says Goodbye to Chicago Mob Linked Alderman William Banks

The Chicago Sun-Times reports on the goodbye to the Zoning Chairman Alderman William Banks:
“I was reminded of some words of Indira Gandhi. She once said, ‘There are two kinds of people: those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group. There’s less competition,’” said Finance Committee Chairman Edward M. Burke (14th).

“For the last 26 years, no one has done more work more quietly than our friend Billy Banks.”

“You’re never selfish with your knowledge. That stands for a great man,” said Ald. Carrie Austin (34th).

Noting that most aldermen are “full of hot air,” Ald. Anthony Beale (9th) told Banks, “You’re one of the people in this Council [that] doesn’t say much, but we all know that you carry one of the biggest sticks.”
Here's some people Alderman Banks has heard of. Here's some more information. Alderman Banks' brother has been a lawyer for the Chicago Mob. Check out how Sam Banks's name comes up in the infamous Cammon murder case. Alderman Banks, by the way, used to ingratiate himself with Alderman Roti at the Chicago Mob's First Ward table at Counsellor's Row restaurant.
