Manne, who has written multiple books on misogyny and male privilege, made her position clear: “And for the record: I believe her. And so I do want to just say let’s extend that out in the way that I think the hashtag I Am Jane Doe is doing precisely that.” Meanwhile, text messages have surfaced in which Jane Doe herself said the encounter was consensual and that nothing illegal happened.
