Labor's Image Problem

Thanks to Greg Roach over TMPCafe for this one. When your wages are derived from politics you can bet the hiring practices aren't based on merit.
In the last two years, the tax-supported Port of Tacoma has invested more than $215 million to build job-creating shipping terminals on Tacoma’s Tideflats.

But many of those relatively high-paying jobs – beginning wages are $20.66 an hour, and experienced Tacoma longshore workers average more than $100,000 yearly – are going to friends, relatives and associates of longshore union workers and stevedoring company managers. That’s frustrating for some of the 16,000 public applicants.
