Ill. Governor Rauner presses for sales tax expansion in U. of I. speech

The Chicago Tribune reports:
Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner pressed a bit harder Thursday for an expansion of the Illinois sales tax as part of an agenda to right the state's financial ship.


The rookie governor once again underscored the state treasury's grim condition in his latest stop in advance of next week's State of the State address, summing it up in a very quick phrase.

"It ain't good," he said.
Someone has to pay for those public pensions if they aren't going to be cut.
