Ex-teacher admits to molesting students

The Press Enterprise reports:
A woman who taught middle school in Riverside and Perris pleaded guilty to charges of having sex with two of her former students, court records show.

Andrea Michelle Cardosa pleaded guilty Friday, Jan. 23, to three counts of lewd acts with a child under 14, said District Attorney's Office spokesman John Hall.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of 10 years, eight months. Sentencing is set for Feb. 9 at 1:30 p.m. in a Riverside courthouse.

Cordosa was originally charged with 16 counts related to sexual relationships with two girls -- one that started when she was teaching at Chemawa Middle School in Riverside and spanned 1997-2001 and the other started at Tomas Rivera Middle School in Perris and ran from 2009 to 2010.

The crimes came to light in January, 2014, when one of her students who identified herself only as 28-year-old Jamie made a YouTube video accusing the teacher of molesting her and included a recorded phone call during which the former teacher indirectly admits to the accusations by saying, "I regret it every day."
The sad moments of public education.
