Vanecko pleads guilty in Koschman death

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Richard J. “R.J.” Vanecko, a nephew of former Mayor Richard M. Daley, stood before a judge Friday and admitted he was guilty of causing the death of David Koschman nearly a decade ago.

Judge Maureen P. McIntye accepted Vanecko’s guilty plea and ordered him jailed for 60 days, followed by 60 days of home confinment with electronic monitoring, and to spend the maximum 30 months on probation.

Vanecko’s guilty plea to a charge of involuntary manslaughter came nearly 10 years after Koschman’s death following a single punch the Daley nephew threw during a drunken encounter in the Rush Street area.
Because being a Cook County Democrat with connections means: murder isn't always going to be murder and jail time might not be that long.
