An elite Washington Post reporter can't handle freedom. I guess we shouldn't beat up too much on Gerson: he's a loyal company man. The Washington Post's earnings rely on a highly regulated society where the state demands a license for a career. As the Post moves from a newspaper company to a test taking company(Kaplan) , libertarianism might hurt the new Washington Post company business model.
But Paul had an answer to this criticism. “How many people here would use heroin if it were legal? I bet nobody would,” he said to applause and laughter. Paul was claiming that good people — people like the Republicans in the room — would not abuse their freedom, unlike those others who don’t deserve our sympathy.
