The Joyce Foundation: the anti-NRA

Crain's Chicago Business reports:
Everyone knows the loudest champion of gun rights is the National Rifle Assn. of America. By both design and default, the leading opponent is almost a secret: Chicago's Joyce Foundation.

Since 1993, the foundation has tapped its nearly $800-million endowment to funnel $54 million through more than 100 anti-gun grants to researchers at Harvard University, think tanks such as the Violence Policy Center in Washington, D.C., and dozens of advocacy groups including the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and the International Assn. of Chiefs of Police.

There's more:
the Joyce Foundation, whose recent directors have included President Barack Obama and his senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett.
Imagine that.
