In what could rock the world of Chicago and Illinois politics,Cook County Republican State's Attorney candidate Tony Peraica on Tom Roeser's talk show(last night) on WLS-AM offered to investigate allegations(if he wins the State's Attorney race) that powerful Chicago Alderman Ed Burke fixed a murder trial for the Chicago Mob.These allegations surfaced in criminal defense attorney Robert Cooley's book titled WHEN CORRUPTION WAS KING.Alderman Burke didn't sue Cooley for more making these allegations in the book.Alderman Burke is head of the committee that slates judges for the Democratic party in Cook County.Among Robert Cooley's impressive track record as a Justice Department witness include being the key witness against the only judge in U.S. history convicted of fixing a murder trial and also the key witness against "high ranking made member" of the Chicago Mob Alderman Fred Roti(who happened to be a close friend of Alderman Burke).Recently the Illinois Supreme Court was asked to investigate these and other allegations concerning Alderman Burke.
