Chicago Mob Linked Alderman Burke Looks into increasing ethanol content at gas pump

WLS-AM reports:
At City Hall Monday, the finance committee heard arguments for and against increasing the ethanol content at Chicago gas pumps.

Influential Alderman Ed Burke says increasing the ethanol content from 10 percent to 15 percent would not only be good for the environment and public health, but it would save consumers money.

“I'm pleased to join chairman [Anthony] Beale in sponsoring the E-15 consumer choice ordinance in an attempt to offer Chicago motorists a cleaner, less expensive option at the fuel pump," Burke told reporters ahead of the committee hearing.

But those on the other side of the issue like Kimberly Pendo of The Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association, say the new E-15 blend could do damage to vehicles manufactured before 2001.
