475 Jobs Leaving Illinois to Wisconsin: Uline to move 475 employees from Illinois, build more office and warehouses

The Milwaukee Business Journal reports:
Uline Inc., which supplies shipping boxes and packaging materials, has purchased 200 acres in Kenosha and plans to build a 50,000-square-foot office building and 1 million-square-foot distribution center.

Once built, the Pleasant Prairie-based company will move 475 employees from its current Midwest distribution center in Waukegan, Ill., to the new office building and warehouse, located at the corner of Route 142 and Interstate 94. The new site will also allow the company to have enough space to expand in the future. The project is expected to begin in the spring of 2015.

"Uline has deep roots in the state of Illinois," said Phil Hunt, executive vice president of Uline. "In face, the company was founded in Illinois 34 years ago. The family did not want to move out of Illinois; however, we could not find a large enough site that was shovel-ready. All of the sites we looked at had serious challenges that could not be resolved quickly enough to meet our timeline."
Great moments of Illinois.
