Mayor Daley Get $500K in Stimulus Money to Launch campaign to break code of silence protecting criminals

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Mayor Daley has long decried the "code of silence" that protects criminals and prevents area residents from helping police solve crimes.

Now, he's using $500,000 in federal stimulus funds to try and break that code of silence.

On Tuesday, Daley launched a public service campaign, complete with radio, television and print ads featuring relatives of those who've lost loved ones to gun violence.

They share their gut-wrenching personal stories with the powerful message, "Stop the violence. Stop the silence. Silence kills."
No word yet from Chicago Mob associate and Daley campaign supporter Fred Barbara on this one. Also, no word yet on whether Mayor Daley will be influenced enough by the campaign to talk about the Hired Truck program.
